A few years ago I was visiting with friends who had just returned from a Disney vacation. I turned my phone OFF (powered it down). We were about 15 feet away from the phone, laying on a table face up. When I said I would love to go to disney but couldn't afford it. The phone - which was fully POWERED DOWN - turned itself ON, opened a web browser and started playing through the speaker an ad for making payments for a future Disney vacation, volume was LOUD. We looked at each other and just about freaked out! SO - now, because we can't even pull the batteries out of new cell phones, even when we power these units down, they are never really "OFF". And it somehow knew how far I was away from the phone, to play the audio through the speaker on high volume! I wonder if a faraday bag would help?
