  1. Apply baking soda mixed with a little water to bee or insect stings. Helps reduce swelling and helps pull the stinger out.

  2. My mom used to make a mustard plaster whenever I had a chest cold when I was young. I think it was a bought product. She cooked it on the stove, let it cool for a minute, and then thickly frosted my entire chest area. It was still VERY warm. She then quickly pushed an old dish towel rag into the mash on my chest. After 30 minutes or so, she then ripped off the towel (and the top layer of my skin). Whatever the ingredients, the result was it broke up the congestion and allowed me to cough up and out the phlegm.
