  1. I don't think it's boredom, I think it's fear. Many people I know who battle depression are perfectionists, who are fearful or worried about making a mistake or misjudgment, to the point that it immobilizes them. They get trapped in their own minds, trying to play out possible consequences of their choices to the Nth degree, and they get trapped in the prison they've made for themselves.

  2.  @asbu2297  therapy and if warranted, medication. If the person is not willing to take Rx drugs, then there's a lot of nutritional based supplements that might help
