  3.  @DannyWilliamH  the issue with Flint wasn't their lead pipes - they used them for decades with no problems. The issue is when they tapped into the Flint river for the city's water source, they didn't add a treatment to the water that neutralized how acidic the river water was. So the untreated water ran through the pipes, and started dissolving the lead pipes into the water Had the treatment been added, it would have cost something like $700 per day. Instead, now it's cost MILLIONS, and there's irreversible health damage done to generations. All this info from TIME coverage.
