  2. When I was a kid (early 90s) I heard about these tunnels but never ventured there because it was almost like a legend. Very cool to see it now! But we did go into abandoned "monk" tunnels above that metro station (maybe 500m up and maybe 1km to the left). Lots of fun growing up in this area

  10. That's an insane roof design! I saw something similar (obviously bigger scale) in the TV show about new Chinese airport. They talked about how difficult it was to design such span with no pillars. I'd be very careful walking on top though. I don't think it's in the condition to be restored

They didn't burn some of those people in ovens, just shot them or starved them in gulags. But hey, just details, right? And of course all educated people know that Soviets carved up Eastern Europe (and Finland) with Hitler as an ally. But hey, just details, right? I also fail to see what loosing/winning has to do with monuments. These silly people's argument for having those statues is that "it's part of our history"

He already speaks English so if he visits USA (your stupid example) he's all set. And English is widely used around the world. In this case Russian absolutely makes more sense because it's used a lot more than Ukrainian so I'll come in handy in his future trips, etc. And I'm from Kiev originally and absolutely for Ukrainian language as the only National language, etc. but you gotta use common sense here

  45. I wish people realized that this is NOT a "typical" Ukrainian family because they are refugees of war from what was already a really depressed region. Like the man said, they lost pretty much everything so they are getting by as best as they can in a house they probably consider temporary. Obviously a well settled family would be more representative of Ukraine but it is what it is and still very interesting to follow

  48. This is such a complex topic. I'm a Ukrainian American and personally I have absolutely nothing against Iran. One of my co-workers is actually Iranian and I just love this guy. I also don't feel any threat from Iran as a country so I don't understand the obsession with sanctioning Iran. IMO it's not about military threat but rather some sort of "business"/influence in the region. In any case, I don't support sanctions from my point of view. However, have to admit that I don't know much about what Iranian gov. does in the region but I do know that Israel is in constant conflict with Iran. I'm not in Israeli shoes to speak for them so I will just leave it at that. Here's another point of view (again, personal view)... I support sanctions on Russia 100%. Yes, there's a personal aspect in this but I also feel like Russia, unlike Iran, actually poses threat to USA (be it military or hybrid). And I feel like all population must bear responsibility for gov. actions. The point of sanctions is to cause uprising or at least degradation to limit the threat. So in Russia's case, all citizens bear responsibility for 11K killed Ukrainians, occupied territories (Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova), chemical/radioactive attacks on British soil, coup attempt in Montenegro, etc. Why? Because they keep "electing" the same president and are all just watching this mess and vast majority actually are proud of this. So like I said, it's a very complicated topic. But in any case Trump and his team SUCKS!

  64. You are so right when you said it's a city to be a kid in! I was born and grew up in Kiev across from park Slavi. I can't even imagine a better childhood.... It was like growing up an explorer, an archeologist, adventurer, extreme sportsman, etc. Can't replicate it just anywhere. My favorite was exploring/playing on the historic hills next to Lavra. Can find artifacts from middle ages to WW2. Or abandoned caves from monks or again, WW2 trenches

  65. #7, there are step that could be taken without much damage to elections. Regular people (voters) would actually applaud if there were new standards for commercial vehicles. That'd be a start. And don't have to demand fixing existing cars, demand newly purchased cars to be "clean". It takes many years but gotta start somewhere

If there's a signed agreement between Israel and USA on some kind of military/defensive "partnership" then USA is simply following the "agreement".   81. Is it all "rules" though? Eye contact is not prohibited and being scared of people isn't promoted. So it looks like a lot of this is from local culture. In Boston (where I live) it's not as "free" as FL but absolutely closer to FL than CA.
