You conveniently left out an important part of recent history. 1. There wasn't even a talk about NATO all the way into the beginning of 2015. 2. Russia occupied parts of Ukraine in early 2014. See how this changes everything?

Putin will die soon and most likely russia will have other things to worry about than Ukraine. NATO is a long process. In any case, Russia attacked Ukraine when it was neutral. Fact.
