Ukraine was de facto and de jure neutral and entire year into the initial occupation since 2014 and only in 2015 announced the ambition to join NATO (common frigging sense, after you are attacked). Finland and Sweden are about to cross the door into NATO and clearly this isn't bothering ruSSia. So your NATO excuse holds no water

Ukraine is defending itself against a Fascist Federation. ruSSia attacked and destroying Ukraine with ambition to take over territory like an empire. Even Putler doesn't dispute it anymore.
