  2. Look. I'm not going to hate anyone or treat anyone poorly or think poorly of anyone just because of their ethnicity or culture but I think that should work both ways. Look at the derogatory views a lot of rom have about gadjes. That we are polluting and the myths about the things it's ok to do to gadjes that it really isn't. Maybe you don't hold those views. I'm a jew. I don't hold a lot of the views that anti-semities say the talmud says I do. But you know as well as I do that many traditional rom are prejudice against gadje, and in the U.S. I would say rom are more prejudice against gadje than gadje are to rom because most gadje in the U.S. don't even know that "gypsies" are an actual people.

  4. I'm not a gypsy but I know the answer to your question. It's for the same reason that jews came to look European. As these people moved across Europe, they occasionally intermixed with the surrounding population. In my neighbor's family, some people looked northern European, some looked southern European like Italian, and some had obvious Indian features.

  5. My neighbors were romanichal gypsies. They preserved their culture and could speak at least some Romani. Sometimes I would hear one of the men signing.
