  2. The Bible doesn't explain why pork was banned because God didn't owe anyone an explanation just as a commander in an army does not have to make their case for subordinates to obey. Sometimes he does but he doesn't have to. God also keeps some mysteries from being understood by the masses unworthy of the knowledge, for they do not seek truth. The key to the prohibition on pork is in the symbolism of not metely the typically disgusting lifestyles of pigs which are disgusting even around trees because they eat poop and would eat corpses. Jews were set apart from other races to be physically as well as superficially distinct from heathens in the spiritual darkness. To eat a poop and corpse eater, was symbolically consuming corruption. The symbolism is what the prohibition was about, more than health. Pigs well-cooked and raised carefully are not always unhealthy in moderate anounts which is why God told Peter to tell all Christians that they coujd eat that unideal meat. The other symboluc reason Hebrews were kept from pork was that chewing the cud represented SCRUTINIZING and DISCRIMINATION between good and bad. Pigs eat anything. They don't discriminate. "You are what you eat." To say no to pigs was saying yes to discernment and wisdom both symbolically and usually practically. Seafood harvested may have eaten corpses settled on the seafloor. Eaters of seafood don't tupically know what their food had eaten. I grew up eating pepperoni but I avoid it now. It's not a sin to eat it but it is not ideal. See "Veganism is hypocrisy.'
