Why? I'm just curious. The defense of police officers in every case is about the only thing I don't like about this channel.

@akal8775 Police have no more right to self defense than private citizens.
2
@scottcpan68 Yes, they would have to be justified, since police have no greater right to self preservation than private citizens.

You should only resist arrest if the arrest is clearly unlawful.

The cop was right to wait before using deadly force.

Why? What if the driver was having a medical emergency, like a seizure? Police need to be able to tolerate dangerous situations without immediately resorting to deadly force. If the driver was coming towards you, and you were not a cop, would you have shot him?
1
I don't think so. The cop's life wasn't really in danger.

@bradgrand79 There are way too many trigger happy cops, I'm glad this cop kept his composure and acted reasonably.
1
@goblingoblineus928 That's why the FBI needs to be defunded, because they no longer stand for law and order.
1
@goblingoblineus928 The warrant wasn't really legal. It was unconstitutionally broad. Donald Trump broke no laws based on the language of the relevant statutes and the Constitution.
1
@huwhitecavebeast1972 Agreed. We don't want trigger happy sociopathic cops rubbing rampant.
1
@goblingoblineus928 I'm sure his defense will do that.
1
@goblingoblineus928 No motion hearing has been scheduled yet. And the overly broad warrant is just one of several defenses they will use. In the unlikely event he is convicted, it will eventually end up at the SCOTUS where any conviction will likely be overturned.

Not really. If cops are reasonable, don't violate the rights of citizens, and never use deadly force unless their own lives are in imminent danger, they won't ever see a prison cell. We have too many police who seem to feel the law doesn't apply to them in the same way as it's applied to the public. I noticed that many cops call private citizens, "civilians," although cops are civilians as well, and this may very well have a psychological effect on some police officers such that they feel separate from the public and not bound by the same laws. This language serves to militarize our civilian law enforcement.

Most police have become the enemy of all Americans, unfortunately.
1
subifyouareagainstantifaan3928 Why?

@reluctantfarmer Waiting to take it to court doesn't teach bad cops anything. You can sue, but any judgement is paid by taxpayers. Qualified immunity needs to be abolished, and that will ensure police don't exceed their limited authority.

matthewquinlan5244 I have no priors and I would resist any unlawful arrest.
