This is why citizens are supposed to be permitted to do the job of police when the police are unavailable. That is one of the key tenets established when organized policing was designed, but we no longer follow it.

@exitscreaming4637 To manage situations. That doesn't mean you blindly follow orders when those orders contradict your oath. Your oath comes before orders.

@dataphoenix8004 I know. That's what I'm saying. The parents should have been allowed to go in based on how policing is supposed to work.

@SwitchedDreams They cuffed her first, then when they released her from the cuffs, she defied the cops' directives and ran in anyway. Pretty sure they weren't going to make themselves look even more stupid by arresting a parent after saving her child.
