  2. Think about it like this. The engine of a car is running at a constant RPM, you can gear the car to travel faster than the engine. The wind is like the engine, the propeller is like the flywheel, and the transmission is the gearing. Different gearing will trade between acceleration and velocity. Lower gearing would make the vehicle accelerate quickly, but lower velocity. Higher gearing would make the vehicle accelerate slowly, but a higher velocity could be reached.

  3. Well, Bill Nye is a fake scientist grifter, Tyson is pedantic and just likes to hear himself talk, and Bill Gates is a BS artist and a demon. I like Sean Carroll, Michael Green, Gerard 'T hooft, Leonard Susskind, etc...real scientists.

  7.  @Beep42  This problem can be reduced to the tradeoff between acceleration and velocity. An analogy is torque (acceleration) and horsepower (velocity) with the wind substituting for the engine. In the same way you can gear a car to move faster than the engine RPM.
