  2. Well, first of all, hazing is illegal. When you pressure and/or bully people into doing something dangerous, and then you fail to act when there is an emergency, you owe some duty of care.

  4. You have a point, but hazing itself is illegal. Also, when you bully and/or pressure someone into doing something dangerous and then you fail to act in an emergency resulting from those acts, that could be considered depraved indifference.

  6.  @SMS2884  An 18 year old is hardly an adult when it comes to judgment and reasoning. The frontal lobe (reasoning center of the brain) isn't fully developed until around the age of 25. This is one of the reasons most teenagers feel invincible.

  7. I was dared to drink a 5th of vodka when I was 16, I did and got so trashed I was sick and couldn't go to school for a week. I was so dehydrated and the only thing that made me feel better was pineapple.

  8.  @BettyWhite2171  Sure, I can see both sides of the argument. My perspective is that they were going to grant fraternity membership to him in exchange for him engaging in a dangerous act. When there is an agreed upon transaction, both parties have an interest and both parties share responsibility. Being 18 or 19 is only an adult in the eyes of the law, it's not an adult in terms of reasoning and judgment, since the frontal lobe of the brain isn't fully formed until around the age of 25.
