@europeanunion6731 On one issue, you are partly right. Pfizer did develop the vaccine with a German biotech company, however, it was Operation Warp Speed which provided the incentive to Pfizer to make the vaccine, since the US committed to purchasing at least 100 million doses in advance. Without Operation Warp Speed, the vaccine would have taken much longer.

You're trying to Monday morning quarterback a difficult policy decision...an objective person would understand these judgment calls were being made without having access to all relevant data about a novel virus. @europeanunion6731 Hmm, I never said they developed the vaccine because of Warp Speed, I said the vaccine would have taken much longer to develop due to the enormous cost of R&D with no guarantees the vaccine would work...Warp Speed mitigated that risk.

@theravenflow Fair enough, I respect your opinion, I just don't agree. Some of Fauci's statements demonstrate to me that he most certainly plays politics. Being a scientist does not preclude one from playing politics. Fauci has taken every conceivable position on every aspect of this virus. He's contradicted himself at least 20 times. Rand Paul, an eye surgeon, embarrassed him during a hearing.

@trumpstruthcentral9577 Fauci is actually the one who funded gain of function research at the Wuhan lab with our tax dollars, against Obama's strict policy of suspending gain of function research. It's very possible that without Fauci, we wouldn't have even had a pandemic.

@theravenflow I used to work as a physicist, I understand science. Science is the explanation of observed natural processes, we do this through experimentation and observation. Let me make it easy with two anecdotes (two of dozens). - Fauci said singing in church is absolutely not ok, but he can't say whether it's ok to protest in the streets. - Fauci said the UK vaccine was rushed and the data not well scrutinized. Later on the very same day, he said had a lot of confidence in the UK vaccine. I urge you to always question experts and rigorously apply common sense and critical thinking to their claims. Never accept at face value what an expert says simply because they studied a subject and have some letters after their name. Case in point, I saved my best friend's life when an emergency room doctor misdiagnosed a serious infection and discharged him. I literally got into a shouting match with the doctor when we came back to the hospital. Had the infection continued for a few more hours, it would have reached his heart and he wouldn't have survived...emergency surgery saved his life.
