@iancampbell1316 Migrants are being stopped, but are then released into the country after being processed. Very few are being returned, and even fewer will be returned now that Title 42 has expired. Ok, fair enough, it's not wide open, it's just an exaggeration to highlight the point that if you come to the US illegally, you will most likely be permitted to enter.

The border wall is clearly not impenetrable, but that's not the purpose of the wall. The wall is but one component of a comprehensive border security apparatus. It was designed to be a force multiplier for border security personnel. The wall drastically slows the rate at which people can cross the border, and this allows border security to more efficiently do their jobs. In addition, the wall was still under construction when Biden took office. On his first day, he stopped construction. The border is effectively open due to Biden's border policy, and not due to physical border security.
