@intheschoolofgodandnature Yes. The quality of public education has declined precipitously. Look up the 1912 US 8th grade final exam...many college educated people have problems answering many of those questions. I'm not sure why the person who responded to you made so many assumptions and seemed to have discounted your capacity to effectively educate your own children. Did social media create this bitterness between those who have different opinions, or did it just broadcast already existing bitterness?

@Dr.Thirteen-bb1ub Either home school, or for kids if parents with insufficient education, charter schools.

Agreed.

Wow. Stunning and brave.

Exactly.

@Dr.Thirteen-bb1ub It's the democrat run school districts. Baltimore I think is the worst in the country.

@Dr.Thirteen-bb1ub Because of the blue school districts in those red states. Resorting to baseless ad hominem isn't an argument.

No books are banned.

@Spooks1.2 Why do you doubt it? And why do you think one needs a Master's degree to effectively homeschool one's own children? Further, you don't know how this person socializes his/her children. I would suggest asking questions before making assumptions; you're demonstrating significant bias.

@Spooks1.2 The empirical data on homeschooling are woefully inadequate to draw any actionable conclusions. Homeschooling, in my opinion, should be on a case by case basis, given the resources, needs, and goals of the parents and children. In regards to needing a degree to teach one's own children, I don't think it's necessary in the home setting where you're teaching your own children using a prepared homeschool curriculum. The publicly available resources to parents and students are such that any reasonably intelligent and competent parents should be able to successfully educate their kids.
