  4.  @charlesmartin1121  Academic results are the only criteria that should be used. And yes, legacy admissions should be abolished as well; unfortunately, I don't think that practice is unconstitutional.

  6.  @charlesmartin1121  Fair enough, but academic success is the primary factor. Of course, there are other ancillary factors which contribute to being "well rounded." But lowering admission standards for certain groups of people does a disservice both to the student and to society. Instead of trying to force diversity through a policy of discrimination, we should address the lack of access to rigorous primary education that many poor people experience (I mean, there are millions of poor white people as well).

  7.  @beethao9380  In any case, "top schools" are overrated. The quality of an education is tied more to hard work and one's desire for knowledge than which school one attends.
