@dissonanceparadiddle You get an education which is supposed to increase your earnings potential, that's the equity. Or, you could forgo the degree and buy a house. It all comes down to choices. Whatever you choose will have it's own set of advantages and disadvantages.

@lamiagumbo Welding, plumbing, electrician, carpentry, HVAC, truck driver, machinist, elevator technician, auto technician....there are all kinds of trades that need people. I know an HVAC mechanic that attained a net worth of $5 million in about 12 years after he and a collegue started a business. And a lot of people get more satisfaction from working with their hands.

@Intentionalwithlelum There are plenty of well paying jobs where a degree is not really important. And many of these graduates get degrees in fields where there are no jobs.

They can get the same education, and many times one that's superior, at the library (well, unless you need a degree for one of the licensed professions like medical doctor).

Agree the interest is high, but that's because it's not a secured loan. Nobody is chastising students, but if you're going to take out a loan, you should be prepared to pay it back, and if you can't, then go to a cheaper school, educate yourself, or take a trade job that pays well that doesn't require a degree.

@Intentionalwithlelum And if they do have jobs, they can pay back their loans.

@Hunter225 Yep, capitalism has done more to improve the quality of life than any other economic model. There certainly issues that need to be fixed, but it is the most effective thus far.

@jamisontanksley112 Why would anyone blame someone for marrying another person because of an age difference? That really doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

@seanmccartney5177 Exactly. Because it wouldn't improve.
