@mariahwheaton4377 13% is not the entirety. In any case, this is a proposed budget, it's not the final version.

@mariahwheaton4377 The $880 billion in cuts is over a 10 year period, $88 billion per year.

@lazarolandrian3960 What?
2
@mariahwheaton4377 Also, a portion of those cuts are supposed to be funded by addressing waste, fraud, not a cutting of benefits.
2
@mariahwheaton4377 Last year, medicaid costs taxpayers $758 billion, an $88 billion cut is about 12%.
2
The TCJA cuts are being made permanent so our tax rates don't increase.

@jonny-b4954 Yes, we know, but a US company that provides a platform for discussion should allow people to discuss without this ridiculous level of censorship.

@tonyochiha9798 No they didn't.

@mariahwheaton4377 Well?

@mariahwheaton4377 I wouldn't worry too much at this point. You have to be careful when reading about budgets and projections, because they are usually calculated over a 10 year period.

That's over 10 years. The cuts to medicaid shouldn't have an impact due to the focus on cutting waste, fraud and abuse. In any case, cuts need to be made, as we cannot continue to print $2 trillion every year and expect the country to remain financially solvent.

@coldandugly9251 Tell me who gets hurt when the country defaults on the debt because we print $2 trillion every year?
1
@coldandugly9251 No, we all would. The middle class receive a larger tax cut as a percentage of income than do the wealthy. And if the TCJA expires, all of our taxes go up significantly. Hating and complaining about billionaires does absolutely nothing to help you in your own life. If becoming a billionaire is one of your goals, the you should try to become one.

Under the TCJA, a person who make $300K pays 24% in income tax. A person who makes $50K pays 8%.

@ellenmadsen7308 The rate goes up.
