  1. The people who built the projects in the first place were do-gooder sociologist activists who wanted to help society. So were the people who wanted to tear down the projects and repair the empty houses for "scattered housing" . They meant well and it all sounded good on paper.

  5. ??? Single motherhood isn't always a choice. Dudes die young and get locked up all the time. If you're against promiscuity and out of wedlock birth, complain about that. Don't forget, a lot of these kids are products of a grown man impregnating a girl too young to legally consent. They chose to put up with the judgement of society to save a life rather than have an abortion.

  7.  @Only1Jim  The rat experiment and the projects aren't related. Why would racists want to pay the people they hate to sit idle and breed? They wanted men of all colors working to support their offspring, not sitting back and getting paid a "stud fee" in increased benefits due to more offspring. People back then saw welfare as a "widows and orphans fund", which it was when it was started. Politicians weren't psychic to see that the hippie "free love" era would come and illegitimate birth would skyrocket.
