 @bayside70 Tax per mile would hit poor people who have to live in the boonies and commute to work the hardest. Besides, EV are cheap to charge.

@Pantology_Enthusiast Yeah, EV is better for short urban commutes. So they'd be driving fewer miles anyway. They still need to get the bugs out of the EV. Make the battery easier to change. Maybe a group of smaller batteries rather than one ginormous one. I think the EV has potential to outlast the ICE because of less friction, soot and deposits. But the auto manufacturers want you to buy something with planned obsolescence. Touchpads and modules and software updates when a plain old dial would do (and last 30 years).

@Pantology_Enthusiast Some hipsters close to me made a charging station in their driveway hooked to a solar panel array on their roof. So it's doable, but probably fixing to get more expensive due to tariffs on foreign manufactured goods.

@MithikYT Won't happen. Reform Czar EM is known for his hard- for- owner to repair, software update- needing vehicles. If an EV subsidy goes away it would help him by crippling his competition.
