They should go to jail. Might not teach them anything, but at least they'll be contained for a bit. You know better than to physically attack a woman, especially a pregnant one, don't you?

@alexanderdumas- If she wasn't the one who rented the bike, why did it unlock for her? Sure it would have been ideal if she'd shown a receipt and they'd backed off, but keep in mind that she's understandably exhausted at the end of a long shift and not thinking of everything. If you believe that knowing not to bully a pregnant woman is a trait unique to single white men, that's pretty racist.
10
@alexanderdumas- If she hadn't paid for the bike, it wouldn't have unlocked. According to her ( in this lawyer's statement), she was ON the bike prior to the start of the video and they took the bike from her prior to her trying to take it back. Maybe she didn't know cancelling after taking the bike out was possible, or didn't think of it at the time. Keep in mind, she just worked a 12 hour shift. So what if these guys get in trouble? That's the normal consequence of not knowing how to act. And why aren't you saying HE should have just cancelled the bike through the app if he thought he'd rented it and she was the one stealing it?

The lawyer says she was ON the bike prior to the initial confrontation with the teens in which they re-docked her bike, which was in her name, and took it out in their name. Even if you assume the lawyer (at 5:12) is 100% lying, and they somehow booked the same bike simultaneously, these bullies are still in the wrong for not letting a pregnant woman have the bike.
7
So if SHE pays for the bike and uses the QR code to detach it, but HE grabs it first, then it's just his with "no backsies"?
3
"Makes no difference if she has a receipt"??

Would YOU be calm and professional if, after working a stressful 12 hours, your ride home was appropriated by a pack of bullies who were harassing and filming you?
2
@alexanderdumas- Watch 5:12. What's that nonsense about "she should have had a car"? Are you implying that women are supposed to be in a car with the windows up and the doors locked when black teen boys are around or it's their fault what happens? She should be free to walk, bike, take a bus or whatever without harassment.
2
@ruzimabonieck6908 Your theory is that after working a stressful 12 hours, a professional woman decided to risk losing her nursing license so she could steal a bike from a group of boys although there were other bikes available? Take the L and crawl off already!
1
@ExtraChocolate80 According to the timeline of events, which reportedly happened prior to those of the viral video, the lawyer reports (at 5:12) that his client was on the bike she rented, the boys pushed the bike back into the docking station and took it out in their name.

Even the guy's family admits he had docked the bike at the time the woman rented it. He was in a low income program where his first 45 minutes were free, then he'd dock the bike and wait around for his account to reset so he could take another free 45 minutes!A checked in bike is NOT HIS. There are no "squatter's rights" in this situation! If people not only game the system so that they're joyriding ( re-docking their bikes so that their ride's always in the FREE first 45 minutes)but also block the paying customers, those bike rental companies make no $! Pretty soon inner city bike rental companies go away like Wal Mart!
1
@spadesmaster2153 You're taking his word that he had it first and that she didn't have it prior to the start of the video.
1
@spadesmaster2153 If she /he/ it/ or they pay FIRST you are $#!t out of luck, regardless of your color! You find another bike. Some things are just "you snooze, you lose". Would you chase someone out of a parking space you wanted because they pulled into it while you were circling back around to it? These bikes are supposed to unlock ONLY when paid for, so her getting on a bike he paid for is unlikely. If that happened, he'd still have been better off calling the company to complain (if he couldn't cancel the rental) than surrounding her, rolling the bike back to the rack and checking it out in his name ( as the lawyer reports at 5:12) because that could be considered assault. Even if there had been just one bike on the rack, he should have ethically let her rent it since she was the one in greater need. Circling around someone and recording them against their will is bullying behavior. Someone should have taught them better.
1
@spadesmaster2153 If she rented the bike first, she's not "acting" entitled, she IS entitled, because she PAID for the bike. She's entitled to the bike she paid for. It's not for him to decide she doesn't get to ride the bike based on her "attitude" if it's not his bike.
1
@spadesmaster2153 Efficiency is not a crime. Taking something forcibly from someone that paid for it IS a crime. The world doesn't revolve around you and your needs. People are distracted by their own concerns and they're not psychic to know what you were "finna do" when they see you standing around.

@spadesmaster2153 Cues? The "cues" don't count because a checked in bike is NOT HIS. There are no squatter's rights! He could have kept the bike out of the rack and let the meter run for a few pennies if he wanted to keep it so bad! He's too cheap to pay and thinks blocking the paying customers is cute. Just wait til the bike stands are taken out of that hood thanks to idiots like him.
1
@Nemisis-doom "No they don't" what? Have any brains or manners? I agree. Watch 5:12. If the sequence of events the lawyer reports is correct, she was on the bike she rented and they rolled it back into the docking station so they could take it out in their name. According to the lawyer, this took place just before the events of the viral video were filmed.
1
@alexanderdumas- Your entire posts are loopy and random, so it's hard to tell when you're attempting humor. She has good reason to be frustrated with the situation, so I wouldn't say she was fake crying. So your theory now is that the lawyer @ 5:12 is lying, and "she was on the wrong bike"? How did the bike unlock if it wasn't hers? And if it was because the other guy paid at that exact same second, why aren't you saying HE should "just cancel it" and not make a big deal? Rather than surround, antagonize her and video her?
1
So, you think it's ok to assault a woman if she "gets in your face"? Your values are a joke. Grow a brain. Crap values and "justified" violence lead to jail time.
1
@daman9304 ruzima is denying the timeline of events reported by the lawyer that happened prior to those of the viral video. The lawyer reports at 5:12 that his client was on the bike she rented, the boys pushed the bike back into the docking station and took it out in their name.
1
It doesn't matter that he "showed the receipt on his phone," only whose receipt was first matters.According to the timeline of events, which happened prior to those of the viral video, the lawyer reports (at 5:12) that his client was on the bike she rented, the boys pushed the bike back into the docking station and took it out in their name.
1
@ruzimabonieck6908 No, I don't "admit and recognize" this was a "mixup". I'll repeat what I said. Even assuming the lawyer (@5:12) is lying about the sequence of events prior to the video being filmed, the group are STILL bullies for surrounding and antagonizing the nurse while videoing her against her will. If the lawyer is correct and the group DID take her off a bike she was on, re-dock the bike and check it out in their names, then that's even WORSE. That's assault and they should go to jail.
1
@ruzimabonieck6908 I don't care what their races are. People don't get that if you snatch something from somebody, that can be considered assault. You don't have to push or punch them in the process for it to be assault. It doesn't even have to be their own property, it could be a library book.
1
@matthewsemrad1474 He was "squatting" the bike because his first 45 min are free since he's low income. So he rides it, docks it, waits for his account to reset, then joyrides for another free "first" 45 minutes! With idiots like him appropriating the bikes and blocking the paying customers, it's only a matter of time until the companies lose enough money to pull the racks out of that part of town, Wal Mart style! He could have stood around adjusting the seat and telling pregnant women to get lost all day if he hadn't been too cheap to let the bike's meter run for a few pennies!
1
Both those incidents were non-news. If it had been a white female who threatened a black man for having his dog off the leash, SHE would have been called a "Karen". If someone accused you of having their phone, why wouldn't you say the phone was yours and show them the lock screen picture, screen picture, carrier and apps on your phone, which would have been different than the ones on theirs? People have no common sense. In any case, the news media is at fault for blowing up stories of scuffles while ignoring wars, disasters and economic news.
1
Where is his receipt? Even if he was in the right, he was wrong to bully a pregnant woman.
1
A group ( with a height and weight advantage) surrounding an individual is bullying. If the sequence of events that took place before the video was filmed (described by the lawyer at 5:12) is accurate, that's also assault.
1
@ruzimabonieck6908 Surrounding someone you have a height and weight advantage over and filming them against their will while antagonizing them is bullying. If they also took the bike (in her name) from her and rolled it back in the dock to check it out in his name, (as reported at 5:12) that's theft and assault. Legally, if she snatched the guy's phone from him to prevent filming, she could also be charged with assault, although I would argue self defense. Crying for help when being bullied isn't bullying. What other option does she have to defend herself in that situation, unless you want her to pull out a pistol so they back off? Using facts to refute nonsense isn't "weaponizing words," it's called logic. There's no reason for a dispute in the first place if she paid for the bike.

@diontescott8499 A PA makes excellent salary.
1
@diontescott8499 Well now the boy's idiot family says they're going to "report" her to the police. For renting a bike that was free to rent because he had put it back in the dock! And I thought the narrative was that she risked the boys' lives by yelling "help" because cops might have come and "cops kill".
1

1
daronkato-mukuamu--postalp9926 No, he had the bike he was planning to use in the rack ( so that it would reset and he'd get to ride for another free "first" 45 minutes). Since the bike was in the rack it was marked available by the system and the app had let her reserve it.
1
daronkato-mukuamu--postalp9926 Yes, but if all the classic bikes are gone, a person then gets to ride the e- bikes free. So he docks the e-bike, waits for app users to come for it (and then settle for the reg bikes because he says the e bike is "his")...once the regular bikes are taken by the customers, he gets to ride the e bike for free again!
1
@anitarobinson4865 It can't be " just a mixup" if the sequence of events the lawyer reports took place prior to the viral video being shot is the truth. See 5:12.
