It makes no sense to justify crime as "lack of economic opportunity/ lack of something to do" and then support bills that limit the weekly hours a teen can work to 20, even in the summer.

@pimentocheesesandwich3065 I'm not absolutely sure that's the case in Chicago, but it is in a lot of the country. If someone is struggling in school and needs extra tutoring, that's a different story, but those willing and able to handle work and school shouldn't be denied opportunity.

Get over yourself. Corruption comes in all colors and both sexes.

This is pretty common politician behavior, just not to this extreme. Trump did something similar, wasting money to mail out physical letters with his name on them to tell people they got a stimulus. ( Separate than the actual stimulus check).

@sowhat599 Asylum seekers are let in and can be bussed from state to state. Illegals are snuck in by cartels and it's also illegal to transport them across state lines.

@Whoknowsme007 BS. They're here to "take the jobs that we don't want " as Obama said. While you complain about jobs not having a living wage, they'll do that job and live on that wage if it's in a shed with no water or AC! You will benefit because their exploitation by the construction, agriculture, and hospitality industries keeps prices down for you. But then they'll climb the ladder and leave you in the dust!
3
@cantprocess He's implying that women are somehow worse narcissists than men based on this one example. Imperialsomething up the thread also says that.
2
They were public about their immigration policy.
2
"Already being used" ....against the local poor.
2
Yep. They just did some "systemic classism" They don't like you poors!
2
They're not used to coming in second in the oppreession olympics. That part about coaches being the kids' " dads" was extra sad!
2
Maybe this crisis will start a tradition of allowing non immigrant homeless families to rest in public buildings without being arrested/ having their things trashed by police.
2
Johnson clearly didn't spend enough of the budget hiring coaches to raise the teens! Seriously, what that lady said was sad.
2
Why be mad at TX? They didn't ask for these dudes to show up, either!
2
Somebody has to work in the fields and slaughterhouses if you want to supply those 'food deserts".
2
@sibitsabat Remain in Mexico wasn't in place until (0\/!D, and then it expired. Before that it was "kids in cages" ( expanded from Obama).
2
@rhuttrho88 There are different categories. Asylum seekers are let in by the border patrol/ National Guard and don't become illegal unless they miss a naturalization hearing. These are the ones on the buses. Anyone snuck in by the cartels starts off illegal and it's also illegal for a US citizen to transport them across state lines for work.
2
That school wasn't taken from the neighborhood to put migrants in, it had been closed for underperformance and was sitting empty. By not allowing local poor people to also stay in the school, the City of Chicago is practicing segregation, which should be considered unconstitutional.
2
They'll probably have to sleep on the patio one night, then back to their room. Local poors, too! Easier than the "Chinese fire drill" method!
1
I used to have a rep that would send glossy postcards with a shot of him with the family to "let us know what legislation he was working on", too.
1
GTFO with your fan fiction.
1
@somerandom7458 Yes. Do you know asylum seekers are legal? They're let in and can be bussed legally from state to state. Illegals are snuck in by cartels and it's also illegal to transport them across state lines.
1
@will_dikfit2975 "Plane flight"? You misspelled *death march through the desert. You're envious because you're ignorant.
1
Are they really still the "voice of the unheard"? They have social media if they're using it to coordinate attacks.

@musclerussell8109 Bitcoin is FIAT AF.

Migrant Industrial Complex!!

There was a "De-fund Police" sign there, too, (@ 1:44) so I wouldn't count on a conservative being elected next time.
1
They care so dang much they made it extra expensive for you to rent a room for over 30 days. Literally and figuratively cold!
1
The new guys have a low standard of living so they're able to live on what the Chicagoans don't consider a living wage.
1
Well, as long as those homeless vets don't want to stay over 30 days!
1
@itsintheword230 Yeah It's always everybody but the father's fault kids are fatherless...must be due to feminism! Or cops locking them up for jaywalking, or white women seducing them or something...
1
The crazy part is, the FEMA grant $ is earmarked for housing migrants. It can't be spent on the regular homeless.
1
That school wasn't taken from the neighborhood to put migrants in, it had been closed for underperformance and was sitting empty. By not allowing local poor people to also stay in the school, the City of Chicago is practicing segregation, which should be considered unconstitutional. They need to screen whoever stays there for drugs, alcohol and criminal history or the school will turn into another "project."
1
This is why the term " people of color" is BS. It's not as simple as white vs everybody else, the way they make it sound. There's plenty of racism going on between black and brown. These migrants are the new underclass that's taking the place of the sharecroppers, that took the place of the slaves. If you want cheap veggies in your food deserts, somebody has to pick them.
1
So if the city's paying the extra hotel tax to house the homeless and migrants, won't they be taxing then paying themselves? Or is the suburb its own entity?
1
That was just a few families, picked by Adams as a political publicity stunt, which backfired.
1
But the tax is coming FROM the government's pockets in the first place...

There are different categories. These guys on the busses are asylum seekers. They're let in and don't become illegal until they miss a naturalization hearing. The guys that are snuck in by cartels are illegal from the start and it's also illegal for an American to transport them across state lines for employment. They provide a cheap source of labor to the agriculture, construction, and restaurant industries, which keeps prices low for you. Someone wants them there or they'd be put on a bus to somewhere else. They didn't "get the money you were fixin' to get paid for reparations". You weren't going to get those anyway with the national debt where it is. The new guys that get work permits will pay taxes, so they're an investment.
1
I guess he doesn't like coming in second place in the "oppression Olympics'?
1
@lenaprice6239 If they weren't scared to get deported back to hellholes with death squads they might complain about safety and go on strike for higher wages and not be such ideal employees.
1
She can be as xenophobic as she wants because of "black privilege". You think it's TX and AZ's job to house all the migrants? Don't like it, bus them somewhere else.
1
@sibitsabat They expelled a couple million immigrants from South and Central America back into Mexico, including under Biden but Biden stopped sending back unaccompanied children, which I think is for the best. Mexico only takes migrants back if they're from certain countries.
1
TX has abundant legal firearms and castle doctrine, though.
1
I remember him saying he wanted a special TV set gravestone that would show clips from the show and to have it carved with " I WON'T be right back".
1
There was a "De-fund Police" sign there, too, (@ 1:44) so I wouldn't count on a conservative being elected next time.
1
@ladyleo9780 While some places put up barriers to voting such as discriminatory history tests and poll taxes it's not accurate to say that no blacks could vote until after the Civil Rights Act. You can search portraits of black politicians elected during the reconstruction period after the Civil War .
