We're doing better, in general. You have to remember that people complain on social media BECAUSE THEY'RE PAID TO DO SO, and take what they say with a grain of salt. They have to constantly find things to rant and nitpick about or their stream of income dries up.

The thing is, if academia is going to re-define racism as "bias plus POWER,"they need to look at situations such as Mayor Adams and his board and see that it's not only whites that have the power to be racist.

@twistedbydesign5216 No, some black business owners became wealthy because segregation gave them a CAPTIVE AUDIENCE! Blacks HAD to buy at the black owned grocery, etc. That doesn't mean all the customers were wealthy! (Many were sharecroppers or domestic servants, pretty much the same role they played during slavery! ) Wealth gradually becomes concentrated in the hands of a few, as it does in just about every economic system!

@imeltsnowflakes818 Better in 1924? Not unless your idea of "better" is white supremacy and segregation. Women had barely gotten the right to vote. A lot of blacks were still working as sharecroppers. Sure, it was a party decade because the stock market was doing well, but that led to a lot of people buying in (who didn't know what they were doing) and the crash ot 1929.
