A lot of people in Russia did used to speak other languages depending on the region but not French or African languages it was a mix of many types of languages. some related to Finnish or Turkish or Hungarian. others were more Asian distant forgotten relatives of Mongolian or Korean some were even related to native American languages from Canada and Alaska they could cross the Bering strait with their little boats .most of these languages are now extinct or very rare .there are some languages in Eurasia that are related to African languages like Somali is close to Arabic and Hebrew but nothing that was in Russia
