  1. south Africa is too different because the country always had a lot of black people and i noticed the people in south Africa are different than in other parts of Africa. i wont get in detail about that

  2. at least Mandela redeemed himself by rejecting communism and the decline of south Africa was at least slowed down until his successors started really messing up .

  4. i noticed that in south east asia after the countries got independent things got worse and worse reaching rock bottom in the 1970s before they started improving rapidly .maybe something similar is happening in Africa

  9. i have never actually been to Africa but i have been trying to learn some African languages and one thing i noticed is that i am having a hard time learning zulu and tswana because the youtube videos in these are not good mostly religious stuff while .in languages like Somali and Lingala there is more interesting stuff despite these countries being the poorest in the world. i also saw a map of countries with the highest amount of people with aids and the countries in the south were the worst while the rest of Africa was much better however not only is south Africa one of the richest countries. but Botswana and Namibia are richer too but i think its because these countries are more westernised because the locals couldn't really resist western influence as much as the more advanced cultures in the rest of the continent .and they also got lucky because they managed to avoid communism and Botswana is relatively homogeneous. i think the cold war was probably one of the worst time periods to start a new country. since the communists were always looking for places to take over and the Americans would also do terrible things in an attempt to stop them that would make things even worse. i think these countries would have been better off if they got independent either before 1940 or after 1990. i think i the more distant futures countries in west and east and central Africa will start to catch up with Europe and Asia while south Africa will stagnate and probably Botswana and Namibia too .

  10.  @okene  its less dominant now but the main reason why Belgium became independent was because the French speakers didn't want to speak Dutch the Flemish joined in too since there were differences between the Dutch and the Flemish. but it would have never happened without the French speaking population. after that the French tried to impose French on the entire country since it was seen as the lingua franca of the future and the Flemish were not very untied and all spoke different dialects. eventually in the 1960s they had enough and made Belgium a proper multilingual country and it almost feels like 2 countries in 1 now. with different laws political parties utility companies even the busses look totally different .i think nowadays Dutch is actually more dominant in Belgium but there is not a lot of interaction between the 2 sides of Belgium when the Congo was colonised it was the peak of French dominance in Belgium.
