  2. my dad travelled in south east asia since 1989 and visited burma a bunch of times in the 90s and 2000s. he said most of the countries had improved a lot between 1989 and 2007. but 2007 was the last time he went to Burma since its too dangerous for a old man like him and you need to be in shape to handle traveling there as a foreigner since they don't have great health care and you need to walk a lot. but he still travels in other parts of south east Asia like Laos and Vietnam and is now mostly focussed on Cambodia. and he says it has become very peaceful and may even become a first world country in the near future. but Burma had not improved much between the 80s and 2007 according to him at least .the last time he was there he also said he was chased by secret agents in 2007. i know they had a democratic period for 10 years between 2011 and 2021 but the army was out of control and did a coup .and even in the democratic period the wars continued. i guess the only hope is to disband the army and rebuild it and split off the non Burmese speaking regions with a population of over 1 million into their own countries . even in democracy these people will want independence

  7.  @jonathanp896  The media in Hungary is way freer than in Belgium and other west European countries where they all support the same politicians no matter what and you don't even have alternative media over here.

  9. I wonder what will happen with these narco states now that a lot of countries will legalize more drugs even hard drugs are becoming legal in some countries probably a lot more will follow until its most of the world.

  22. o know they have a fanbase in any countries but they seem average not bad but every country makes similar content .its not like anime that is something most countries don't want to make because they assume nobody was going to like that. or Korean movies that are just very different in terms of story

  23. Yea since i started learning Hungarian i noticed a lot of the media complains about orban all the time its not one sided at all. Meanwhile in my home country of Belgium there are only a handful of media outlets all owned by the same company its like 1990 here in terms of media diversity you only have a hand full major tv channels talking politics and they never say anything positive about the right and never anything negative about the left.

  24. i am not an expert but it seems to similar to Scottish independence were the current leaders just don't care about it and are more focussed on global issues like Palestine and Donald trump .and don't really care about what happens to Catalonia and probably looks down on the average Catalonian.

  28.  @Urlocallordandsavior  really ? i have not been there in a long time but Bangkok used to be way more advanced than any other place in the region .when i went to bangkok in the early 2000s it was rough but you had modern things like video games. phnom penh looked like 1930 back then not a single video game or computer in the entire country. even tvs were rare

  35. its hard to get in there and the region is known for its wars .in south America this stuff is uncommon in recent history and its easy for America or brazil to get in there without big countries like Russia getting mad. i think turkey also made a deal with Azerbaijan

  36. yea but Guyana has almost no people for every Guyana soldier there will be 100 Venezuelan ones. Ukraine is densely populated compared to Russia. so the man power difference is not that big it can be overcome with good tactics and weapons .

  42. it wont matter anyway the uk has way more immigration than most European countries that are in the echr some non European countries also have very high immigration like canada and the leader of the uk really don't care about this issue .i think the uk is a human right disaster in other ways like rights to privacy and freedom of expression

I think the cold war was a bad time to start a new country communism was super popular back then most people online only have an American view of this period. but it was really mainstream even in places were you would not expect it almost every country had no non government owned tv or radio the us and uk were the exception. . few people were really pro capitalist in the 1970s i think these days a lot more people think its good or at least that having no free market at all is a bad thing . but ofcourse its not that simple africa also has a lot of corporations taking advantage of corruption and religious zealots .but i think the since the founders of these countries didn't care about freedom and were obsessed with a very flawed system it probably makes these problems worse .i think these countries would have been better off if they either gained independence before 1910 or after 1990.
