The basque just speak a language that isn't connected to any known languages directly but they got many Spanish loan words these days

I was interested in them but the more i learned about them the less i wanted go go there they have still got a cold war era mentality and that means most speakers are getting old and their political system is going to only lead to more decline.

@unnecessaryapostrophe4047 I mean that their leaders and intellectuals like the ussr because the ussr wanted to help them back in the era of franco so nowadays they are all still pro communism but in recent years leftism has changed and they no longer care about protecting their culture anymore but would rather assimilate into a more global culture and promote political correctness but keep in mind this is just what i noticed about my interaction with basque people so maybe i just had a bad time and only ran into crazy people.

@aiertxuu5310 I was trying to be politically correct .but what i meant is that they are all communist because back in the day the Ussr helped their independence movement. and what they are doing now is just copy paste what Champaign socialists from America say. so when i tried to learn Basque i got bored because unlike in bigger languages there is not a lot of choice in media. and all you get are confused boomers trying to look young by acting like Hasan piker or vaush .and that is pretty much all the modern media they got .so now i have a negative view of them .maybe the average Basque is not like this but this is all i see.

Yea a dark situation back then the Basques had no choice since only Stalin wanted to help them. but these days it still has a bad impact on the country probably forever since they don't want to admit they were wrong. in an ideal world instead of Franco there would have been a democratic capitalist republic vs the communists but they were not that lucky.
