You can tell These guys are not used to democracy .they think that if someone else gets elected they will lose the war with Ukraine because of the chaos of having a different leader .and they don't think they can negotiate a peace deal even if the candidate is pro peace. because they think the Ukrainians will just try to conquer all of Russia instead of stopping at their older borders .if they lose the war and wont negotiate. and they also think that if they have another government it will be just as big of a deal as the fall of the Ussr while in reality the changes will be minor. they don't want to take risks since the Russian economy improved a lot between 1990 and 2020 because of the enhanced freedoms. but the Russians don't realise that is the reason why they are rich now they just think its because of Putin and most leaders are going to be worse than him but pretty much competent non communist leader could have done the same .
