In the west in 1988 computers had become a consumer item but in the ussr it was still limited to labs and military bases and universities. part of that is because of poverty but also because the soviet leaders still thought nobody wanted to own a computer anyway. i wonder what would have happened if the ussr still existed in the 90s and 2000s would they only be a few years behind or would they still be using the 8080 in the year 2000 upgrade to 286 in 2008 and 386 in 2016 and by now the should be getting their 486 clone ready.

  15. he mentioned he was in Mozambique in the 90s i think that there were probably like 10 computers in the entire country back then lol .but nowadays even there you got a lot of people with internet access but in the 90s you only had rich countries online .you had these maps of global internet activity and Africa and most of Asia was just a big hole of nothing. but south America and the Caribbean and eastern Europe got online quite early too

  19. i think it would have been useful in the past but internet access got a lot easier and cheaper recently in 2014 you had way less places with decent internet. but it was already way better than a few years earlier when they started working in this. i think the concept was made up in the 2000s but it took until 2014 to launch in the 2000s getting internet outside of the home was a luxury so something like this would be neat these days not so much .

I was imprsssed with the mac os 9 emulator. i had bad luck with browser based emulators so far .even simple 8 bit systems where laggy. it was really impressive to play warcraft 2 without lag i always wanted to try it. the zxspectrum one was good too but i am not used to the controls on that system. they used a different layout compared to modern pc games i wish i had accesses to the manuals. i heard most zx spectrum users used a joystick because the zx spectrum keyboard was bad. the atari st emulator looked good but it has no games included. but i love the ui on the atari st that was a huge leap forwards compared to dos impressive for 1985. and the vic 20 emulator is not very intuitive. it says i need to put my volume higher. i don't know how to do it. it has no option to change it on the tape player. the zx 81 emulator seemed perfect but its the most primitive system on here.

Maybe i just got unlucky but my interaction with Greek people both online and irl has not been great they are like Americans from 100 years ago if you know what i mean or their neighbours in the east that are also known for this behaviour and no this is not about skin color i am European. i remember the most crazy interaction was when i was speaking Greek and i said that i was also learning Albanian and i thought Albanian was easier than Greek. and they got offended by that like in most countries they are happy that i even try to learn their language maybe i am just unlucky since this is really not normal behaviour.

  28. i doubt he will do it he is known for saying crazy things without meaning it. but it is really strange that so many American right wingers are now pro Russia just because they don't like joe Biden and there is Russian propaganda everywhere now. seems like dark days ahead for America i never saw any pro Russian stuff in the past this is the first time something like this happened .America was untouchable when it came to propaganda.
