The U.S. buys 100 billion dollars worth of highly discounted oil from Canada every year. The U.S. has refineries in the mid west that can refine this Canadian oil. ( it is not the same oil that is produced in the United States). The U.S. refines Canadian oil and the U.S. sells that oil for 300 billion dollars to other countries of the world. Canada should refine its own oil, not sell it to the U.S. at a discounted price…and make more than 300 billion dollars by selling it at fair market value to the world on its own.

Canada can turn off the electricity to New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Washington, California and Oregon. If all the premiers of Canada turn the electricity off at the same time…I would say that Canada does have the cards. How can manufacturing plants in those states operate without power? How does anything get done without power?

The U. S. buys 80% of its potash from Canada. Potash is used to make fertilizer. Canada is finding other countries to buy its potash from. How do 80% of all the American farmers find other countries to buy potash from when the crops are about to go in. Crops can’t grow without fertilizer.

Canada sells CHEAP electricity to Maine, New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Washington, Oregon and California. The premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, threatened to cut the electricity last week to New York, Michigan and Minnesota. Canada powers all of these states because Canadian electricity is cheap. That is why the U.S. buys it from Canada. Canadians are urging their elected officials to cut the electricity to all of these states. ( the premiers of 5 provinces have the power to cut the electricity off to the states they sell to). Canadians are livid that Trump says he will annex Canada. Lutnick phoned Doug Ford to arrange a meeting and ask Ford to not turn the electricity off. Another meeting will be held this week. @FrontUW I am repeating the information that is coming from the provinces web sites. New Brunswick sells electricity to Maine. Quebec sells to New York, Massachusetts and Vermont. Ontario sells to New York, Michigan and Minnesota. Manitoba sells to Minnesota. British Columbia sells to California, Washington and Oregon. The premiers of those provinces sell the electricity to those states.

@FrontUW Premier Doug Ford, the premier of Ontario, threatened to turn the electricity off to New York, Michigan and Minnesota a few days ago. Lutnick phoned Doug Ford and asked to meet Doug Ford to discuss not turning the electricity off. The premiers of the provinces are the people in charge of the electricity going to those states. If the Quebec premier, Francois Legault, decided to turn the electricity off, he could only turn the electricity off to the three states he sells to…New York, Massachusetts and Vermont. This is how I understand it.

@FrontUW Check out today’s news…Global News. (March 13/2025). Susan Holt, the premier of New Brunswick, says cutting the power to Maine is still an option. ( She can’t turn the power off to any other state because she only sells to Maine). This is how I understand it.

@FrontUW . Thank you for your response. I am only going on from what I read in the news. I don’t have any more information than that. I imagine that some states have more power being sold to them from Canada compared to other states. And maybe it’s seasonal…I don’t know. New Brunswick sells power to Maine and the premier, Susan Holt, said yesterday that cutting off the power to Maine is still an option. (Financial Post). The article doesn’t say how much power New Brunswick sells to Maine. It could affect just a few kilometres…or 1/4 of the state…it doesn’t say in the article.

That’s not the way I see it. Trump did not break Canada. When Doug Ford, Ontarios premier, threatened to cut the electricity to New York, Michigan and Minnesota, Lutnick wanted to meet with Ford. I would image Lutnick will be wanting to try to convince Ford to not turn off the electricity. Ford agreed to me him. That’s what I understood.
