Canada sells 100 billion dollars of cheap oil to the U.S. every year. The U.S. refines that Canadian oil ( the Midwest refineries can refine the Canadian oil. It is different oil than the U.S. oil) and sells the Canadian oil to the world for 300 billion dollars. The U.S buys 80% of its potash from Canada ( potash is used to make fertilizer). Why is the U.S buying billions of dollars worth of products every year from Canada…if the U.S doesn’t need anything from Canada?
