  3. People who value the "soil" more than human life kill. Tell them that their "soil" is in danger, and will follow you to kill --- foreigners, people who merely look different, or each other. What you say dies not have to be true. It is common in Russia to blame others for own sins. Tolstoy is a precious exception: he urges people to look at themselves and stop admiring power. If his words sound modern and relevant at the present time, it is because nothing changed in Russia since his time.
