  1. The answer to this is credit unions. Abandon banks, period. Every time I think the US is bad, I hear about what is happening in the UK and I think "Well at least it's not like that in the US just yet." We are probably something like 10 years behind the UK in this regard. I'm sure things will continue to go to $h!t, though.
