  2. As a lifelong martial artist, veteran, and someone who is very familiar with violence I have to say: WRONG. Defending yourself does not always have to go to "maximum force". You have to use quick judgement to ascertain the threat, and react accordingly. You follow your own advice and you are likely to wind up in prison at some point.
