Dog nuts? Pitbull apologists? Lol. Pit bulls really aren't that different from other dogs, except they have a high prey drive and when they get involved in a fight they tend not to stop until something makes them stop. Pit bulls need a strong hand, and you have to be the absolute alpha. They are not old lady dogs. I in fact have 2 pit bulls, and several other dogs. I'd actually rather deal with a pit bull than Cane Corso, or central asian mastiff breed. They are huge, they are aggressive, and they can definitely kill people. Kangals have the strongest bite force of all dogs. Pit bulls are just much more common, and they are a fighting breed. Part of the problem is they are over bred because some segments of the population are into dog fighting.

So the 2 great Danes that recently killed their owner don't exist? Killed by German Shepherds? Mastiffs? People have been killed by virtually every large dog breed. Pitbulls are just incredibly common and are one of numerous breeds that tend towards aggression. So naturally you get more pit bull attacks. Also they attract owners that can't control them properly. I have 2 pitbulls and several other dogs, and you have to be the absolute alpha with them. They have to know that attacking you or displeasing you is a very bad idea. Some dogs only respect physical power. Pitbulls are one of those types of dogs. I will say pit bulls are very dangerous to small animals, like cats, rabbits, small dogs. They just see everything that is significantly smaller than them as prey. I also would never keep any but the gentlest pit bulls around small children. Dogs are predators, people need to accept them for what they are. If everyone kept big cats, you'd hear lots of stories of people getting killed by lions and tigers. Our small house kitties can't kill a person, except maybe an infant.

@danielle9303 Pit bulls are very stoppable. I have 2, I know what I am talking about. And do tell, what is an invasion attack? Never heard that term before relating to dogs.

@danielle9303 It's bizarre that you automatically know zero about the subject, because it contradicts your POV.

It's def not just pitbulls.

It used to be the same with Dobermans and Rottweilers.

Well there is some truth to it. How you raise any animal will effect its conduct. You can pacify tigers, you can pacify a pit. But the danger is still there, regardless. I have seen sweet pits who dont' even attack baby chickens, and conversely victims of dog fighting who are unfortunately very aggressive. So how they are raised is def a factor, but so is genetics.

Heck no. One of my pitbulls I have to be very vigilant with due to his history. He is very aggressive towards other animals, but he fears people strangely enough. My neighbor a little old man terrified him, even though my neighbor couldn't physically be a threat unless he had a firearm. My other pitbull is a sweetheart, but even she if she gets her blood up will fight. Once the switch is flipped, pitbulls don't really have a reverse gear. They just keep going until something MAKES them stop.

They aren't all like that, come on.

I think it depends on their lineage and life experiences. I have one pit that is sweet as pie, the other, a foster, was used in dog fighting and abused and that thing I can't allow to come into contact with small animals of any kind, or very small children. For some reason he is just fine with humans. I will be relieved when I can get him to a rescue meant to handle dogs like him. He loves me too, it's sad.

@Konagirl7760 Morons like this are oblivious of the stories of other dogs killing their owners or other people. Great Danes, Mastiffs, Rottweilers, etc have all killed people and can be aggressive.

No it isn't. Great Danes, German shepherds, mastiff breeds like Cane Corso's and central asian mastiff, and Rottweilers have all killed people. My old mail man was was so viciously attacked by a Rottweiler that not only did he need tons of stitches but the dog literally broke one of its teeth off in his a$$! Pitbulls have just become incredibly common, and are big in dog fighting, so more incidents will occur and they have a bigger reputation. They have high prey drives, this comes with aggression, and people need to understand that. At the end of the day, dogs are predators. Some fiercer and more dangerous than others.

@badmoonryzin7251 You have a bad case of brain rot.

Why?

I don't agree with outlawing them, but I would agree that special requirements need to be met in order to have one.
