  5. It's not xenophobic, it is insular. Even if it was xenophobic, so what? It's their country, they can run it how they see fit as long as they aren't hurting anyone or cruel to animals (some Japanese can be cruel with this thing of eating live food - disgusting and awful!). I felt like I got special treatment in Japan, but that might be due to my appearance. If there is one thing I have noticed in Asia, physically beautiful people get a lot of things easily and ugly people are rejected and treated almost as if they are subhuman (of course this doesn't apply to everyone there, just saying it is common).

  6. I see the Japanese more as protective of their nation, culture and people. They aren't xenophobic. If they are anything they are insular but not xenophobic. Xenophobic means you don't like anything outside your group and that groups culture. And as you said, they have adopted many, many foreign cultural trends. They just need to NOT embrace mass immigration.

  11. I never was there long enough to get an apartment, but people were pretty nice to me, and very complimentary about my appearance which was flattering. I just don't see their policies as xenophobic, I see them as protective. Xenophoia means you don't like anyone outside your group. Not that they protect their country, culture, and people from damaging or unwanted foreign influence.

The Japanese have accept and embraced many foreign concepts and cultural trends, and do not particularly dislike foreign peoples. On the contrary they are generally pretty friendly. The Japanese are insular, and protective of the nation, their people and their customs. Being protective of your heritage and the welfare of your nation is not xenophobic.

  37. That is an impossible request. They don't need immigration, they need native japanese families to be subsidized by the government so that having kids is actually affordable. This is what Hungary did and it's working great. Japanese should reject most immigration.
