  4. Psychopaths are born, sociopaths are made. But you are not either one. Your compassion for animals precludes you from being a psychopath. The defining feature of psychopaths is a total absence of empathy. Animals are innocent, humans are not. A desire for revenge also does not make you a psychopath. Anyone who critically examines humanity in an honest and unflinching way automatically is disgusted by the majority of humanity. You realize the greatest threat to yourself and others including animals is other people. It is not wrong to be angry at the cruelty inflicted upon so many.

  9. A psychopath and a narcissist are not the same thing. But a lot of people who appear smart or educated are often surprisingly stupid, willing to lie to themselves to no end. There is a difference between intelligence and wisdom.

  11. What nonsense. You just posted that because it sounds nice. A few are born with love, most are neutral. A few people are born sociopaths. Fear is hardwired instinct. The exaggeration of it comes from experience, but it's in the DNA to start with. Real love, real compassion, is something learned and something awakened.

I'm a life long martial artist and know the Marines training, they are not trained to gently or safely choke someone out. They are trained to kill. That Marine didn't intend to kill that guy, he just went back to his training.

But the writings of Chuang Tze are the most prolific on human nature. There are even good cartoon books on him and Lao Tze. Another good book is "Back to Beginnings" or "Vegetable root talks" translated by Thomas Cleary.

  22. You'd be right knowing oneself but wrong about psychopaths. Of course those dupes don't know what they are dealing with, they intentionally, willfully avoid knowing. People who fall victim to the "charm" of a psychopath are people who did not want to see and lied to themselves. However you don't need to know everything about yourself to recognize someone else does not have capacity for empathy.

  35. Well, somewhat yes and no. A narcissist is capable of empathy, it just doesn't happen often because they are so self focused. If you can get them off their single minded self obsession, and show them that something they did hurt someone, they can show true remorse or feel guilt about what they did. Psychopaths cannot. They have no empathy, period.
