  1. While your example I think is true, there is definitely more to the situation than that. I can tell you in the midwest (I live in Ohio) a lot of young people feel the same, regardless of their employment or career. Unless their parents are buying a house for them, they can't afford one that isn't a run down POS. A lot of them can't even afford that, because houses worth 120k are going for 400k, and decent houses are all 500k+ and at today's interest rates, it is just unaffordable unless they make 200k+/year. I live in the most affluent suburb in my city (Columbus), I see the radical difference between people who live here and most other places, including other suburbs.
