  5. All societies collectivist or not are made up of individuals. Denying the individual, the inherent element of the collective, is exactly what is wrong with collectivism. We require cooperation to be successful societies, not collectivism. Collectivism put the interests of a abstract idea above the real flesh and blood individuals that actually make up the society and are the ones that created the abstraction to begin with. Collectivism is always hijacked by a few individuals to control and exploit the remaining individuals, it is always abused. It is a system of totalitarian control, not the same thing as cooperation. Collectivism is like saying "the idea or concept of me is more important than my physical body, what I am myself." Self abnegation for an idea.
