  1. Direct participatory democracy, in government and in business, is one way (maybe the only way) to make good on the promise of socialism. It would, for one, help to maintain decentralization of power both of the state and of business.

  2. Tacking on democratic to socialist is unfortunate as it implies that socialism is inherently undemocratic. But it is understandable that the two words are linked due to poor understanding within the public.

  4. It seems that many think that socialism will only work if it is implemented 100%, across-the-board throughout society. That there are no benefits to be had from a partial or even a transitional phase. This way of thinking is wrongheaded, IMHO.

  6.  @kylequest  Agreed. Sanders isn't beyond acting strategically. After all, he has to operate in a country and world that is hostile to socialism.

  7. Considering that as many as half of all Americans have believed that the phrase, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." is in the US Constitution (It isn't.), maybe there is hope in thinking that Americans will come to socialism sooner rather than later.

  10. A good place to start might be to encourage employee ownership of medical offices and practices.

  11.  @jazzx251  As a place to start within government funded M4A is what I intended to say. M4A will pay the bills, but the employee pay structures and investor participation, as is, would still be in place. I am suggesting that moving to employee owned and operated cooperatives within medicine would be a natural fit and a more sustainable system.
