  1.  @y0uknowmysteez  Socialism isn't horrible. Sanders, I suspect, tacks on the 'democratic' to assuage the concerns of those who mistakenly think that socialism is, by default, undemocratic.

  2. Do not dismiss the power of the "red scare". Many Americans want less government which puts socialism in a bad light from this flawed perspective. When push comes to shove, too many Americans, even those who survey as favorable to socialism, will retrench to their safe spaces.
