  4. This is an amusing little thread. So many have no idea what differentiates the alpha personality from the beta. Its not how tall, ripped, wealthy, outgoing, or well dressed you are. The fact that people don't know what it is tells me that not only are they not one, they have never met one. It is NOT a status thing, its a leadership thing. The simplest way to look at it is in caveman terms. The most competent, capable, and actually dangerous man is the one everyone else will follow into danger. Being an alpha male is a leadership role, in the most basic sense. Betas are not bad, they are the foot soldiers, the followers who do their job and fight alongside the leader. A leader who directs from the rear and avoids contact can be either, it depends on the conflict and how large it is. Your high school jock was probably not an alpha, he was just tall and good looking so people liked him. As we males move through the world, and we meet other males, we size each other up mentally. Its not a physical size thing, its far more nuanced and entirely subconscious. You will know exactly which man will F you up when you see him. There are some who blend in trying to be unobtrusive, grayed out, unnoticed, but you will still get that feeling of intimidation just by how they move or stand, posture is a big part of it. We display who we are in how we move, just like animals do. That loud boisterous guy who will come in and immediately try to take charge of a newly formed group, is not the alpha. He is trying to be, but chances are he is trying to hide his insecurity and incompetence or ignorance. Who might the alpha be? The one who sits back, observes the dynamic among everyone, learns about all members in the new group that is forming, and will assume command when the boisterous loudmouth screws up. He gives the loud guy the chance to prove himself, if he is competent then that works out, if the loud guy isn't he will be rejected by the entire group. Men follow competence, doesn't matter if you are the leader or not, competence, knowledge, ability.. all rooted in merit. Zuby has some of it, he is a super cool guy with good ideas and an awareness about him. Matt is definitely not alpha, but he also has an awareness about him that is beneficial to society and all of us. Matt says it himself, he is contrarian, he is the one who wants to be sure the leader is competent enough to do the job. He will not step up to lead, but he will find who is competent and capable enough to handle the job. Once you have spent time in the military, with various leaders of wildly varied competence, knowledge, and ability, you will be able to see who is the one people follow, and who is not. A competent leader does not get excited and start bouncing off the walls, trying to micromanage everything, that is what females do. If a male acts like that, its out of massive insecurity. Would you follow that man into a bear cave with nothing but some sharp sticks or not? That is a good litmus test for this subject. Most of the people you think are alphas are simply not. Tate isn't for damn sure. He tries too hard to intimidate, but the man is spot on about how men should think and act in certain situations. The big thing about being a leader most people completely miss is that you're responsible for the lives of everyone following you. Most just want the control, and have no idea its a position of trust and responsibility, you have to make good decisions in a timely manner. Its not as easy as it sounds. If you want a TLDR then trust me, you are not an alpha.. lol.
