I had kids, the younger one is 28. My kids aren't having kids because they were raised by someone other than me, because the court said I was unfit due to being able to drain my bladder outside. Its going to get bad, but its not the end of us. Young guys, learn how to do as much as you possibly can, build cars and trucks, houses, repair things, cook, grow food, produce energy both electrical and fuel based... your life will be far better the more you know, because you will be less dependent on others and the system. They'll be dependent on YOU.

In 1991 I was getting paid $963 a month. E3 pay. Since I was in Germany working shifts where the chow hall wasn't open, I got COLA and BAS, so my checks were around $1100 a month. I made $13k that year. In 1996 I was making $750 a week working 10-30 hours overtime every week. The ex made sure all of that was wasted every week and we were overdrawn for as long as the ex had access to the account. I bought a house in 94 for $37k, built in 1910, it was not palatial by any stretch, but it worked for my and my two kids. If the ex had NOT financially ruined me at every opportunity, I could have built a life and saved something.
It was NOT easier in the 80s and 90s. You needed skills and experience to earn more than just above min wage, which was like $7.50. You can still get inexpensive houses, but they aren't in large cities or suburbs around them. Freakin duh... go where life is more affordable, but yeah you are still going to have to work and improve yourself to earn a decent amount, then LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS. I swear man, I hear young people complaining that they have to put in work and not just be given stuff, claiming we didn't have to work 40 years ago.
You probably have had no job as difficult as the easiest one I had. Learn and become valuable, don't expect anyone to do it for you..
