  1. Great advice on this one. I've had my purpose since I was 13. Everything I have done outside that purpose was in support of it, other than starting a family 30 years ago. To the young guys.. DO NOT GIVE UP. The only person you should impress is yourself. Your tombstone will have a start and end date on it, the space between those dates is the important part. Make it a life worth living, take some risks, get out of that comfortable spot and explore the world. Don't get hung up on stuff, you need some things, but stuff should not be your focus. I have a bunch of muscle cars, most of them don't run and need full rebuilds. I enjoy doing the work, because when they are done I can drive them. I have a ton of fun driving them, and knowing my skills, knowledge, and capabilities are why it runs. I upgrade them often, just put a 5 speed in the 65 GTO, the overdrive is nice. Took me two days to put it in, swapping from an auto. ITS NOT THE CAR, its what I DO with it. I have a lot of tools, a shop to work in, and I have a lift in it. I do not work on cars for a living. I could not stand to work on cars to pay bills. I wanted to know all of this FOR ME. FOR MY BENEFIT. Yeah I can make money with it, but I don't need to. I pursue all sorts of things with vehicles, lower elapsed times, better drivability, better mileage, handling, and I like to build things that are both understated and obnoxiously irreverent. Sleepers and fun stuff like hotwheels cars you can drive. That was my purpose in life, and I have done a lot of jobs to pay for parts, tools, the shop, and most importantly the knowledge required to do all of this. The knowledge is the priceless part, I suggest you strive to have as much of that about a wide array of subjects, because the more you know the better your life is, even if you're stuck in a temporary position that seems hopeless. It gets better because YOU make it better. You have all kinds of information right here, I didn't have any of this until I was nearly 40. You have a huge advantage over me, imagine what you can do if you take the time to do it.
