@qwaurk985 the bible tells us that god created everything, poofed it into existence in 6 days. Chilled on the 7th. Then we are told the earth is flat, with a metal covering which is filled with water and has widows in it that god opens to make it rain. Its sits upon pillars that are unmoving, with water beneath the land. All the animals mentioned are within 200 miles of Jerusalem. No mention of how electricity works, the EM spectrum, water cycle, germs, tectonic plate shift, that the earth orbits the sun, which orbits a super massive black hole at the center of the galaxy, and only the moon obits the earth. Its as if god only knew as much as bronze age desert nomads. So does god intend to keep us ignorant of how everything works? I find that to be rather self serving and capricious if that is the intent. After all, people who attempted to fly in the middle ages were burned at the stake. God says no witchcraft and flying is witchcraft... so no more aviation, GPS, or Amazon next day packages for you. Might want to get rid of the cell phone and whatever you are watching YouTube on, because its witchcraft to anyone born more than 200 years ago. He could also be unaware of how it works, and that is why he explains it all like the dad in the old Comic strip Calvin and Hobbes.. since ya don't know, just make it up. Since god is either apparently unaware or unwilling to share the way the entire universe works, but is cool with slavery and genocide (which I find interesting) and only imparts revelation to certain individuals who write it down and it turns out to be factually incorrect, how are we to know what is correct and what is fallacious? Faith? so slavery and wiping out entire civilizations because they have a different take on invisible friends is ok.... Which means you are in agreement with islam, because they have the same god you do, and the same backstory except it diverges a little bit with Abraham's sons. The other god hypothesis is god started everything and stepped back, aka the deist position that Thomas Jefferson ascribed to. That would mean the people who wrote the bible were making up what sounded like a plausible explanation. aka Calvin's dad. Just because evolution does not include abiogenesis does not mean a god did it. God of the Gaps only means your god lives in the ever decreasing pockets of human ignorance. For centuries humans were dissuaded by death and torture to not explore certain aspects of the universe we live in, by religion. So is god capricious or clueless? If there is a god, and yes there might be because it cannot be proven either way (like the invisible dragon living in my shop and my underwear gnomes under the sink) we can't say definitely one dos not exist. To posit one exists and then use sharpshooter fallacies to justify it, well thats just silly. Lastly.. You can keep your beliefs, live by the rules it imposes on you, raise your kids to think the same way, and openly congregate with others who believe the same thing, and I will fight all those marxists in the democrat party to help ya keep your religion. They have their own dogmatic religion where the state is god, and my problem with it is the same issue I have with most religions. When they try to make it the law, force everyone to live by its rules, and dissent is crushed with violence, that is when I cease to support then believing what they like, because it then infringes on the rights of others. For now, we are technically on the same side fighting marxism in all its insidious forms... communism, socialism, nazism, feminism, post modernism, and identity politics etc. However, once we defeat the overbearing and overzealous marxists, do not assume that your religion can take the place they are striving to gain. We allow all religions here in the USA, and none are allowed to take precedence over the others, and that includes those of us who do not ascribe to any of these ideologies.
