  1.  @str.77  learn more than one abrahamic, it opens your eyes.. particularly when you see how the followers of one will lie about followers of the other. I call it 'lying for Jesus.' I grew up being sent to a parochial school, in 7th grade I went to a public school because I wanted to learn math and science instead of reading the bible for an hour every day. I read it four times with my class. I was the kid who asked questions they could not answer, it was always 'mysterious ways' and 'because I said so' or some variation thereof. Consequently it never really stuck with me. God can do anything, but can't do that, and he doesn't know how the water cycle works or what electricity is. When I was 21 I met a beautiful Arab woman, she was unlike western women and keeping in touch with her over the last 33 years has proven that she can be trusted, while western women cannot. We were engaged, but her mother and my pentecostal military supervisor ensured we did not marry. To this day he is on my beat until he expires list for what he did. Around 38 or so, spending time learning how things actually work, knowing people from around the world and seeing how they all lie to support their religion/cult, it clicked in my head. All the contradictions I had been overlooking because I was trained to overlook them since I was 5 years old, were now blatantly obvious to me. I was working on producing fuel for my muscle cars from the 60s and 70s, and in learning how biology, chemistry, and physics work so I could produce fuel, the notion of the Abrahamic God creating all of it, while not knowing how any of it worked or why was the salient point. If god doesn't know how the universe functions, he is not all powerful and omniscient. If he knows but misinforms us by telling us sin causes disease and bad weather rather than microbial life and the water cycle (respectively) then he is capricious and wants us to remain ignorant. The fact that you were burned for attempting to fly before the 1700s is indicative of the preference for us to remain ignorant, same as the bible only being in Latin for centuries. The simple answer is similar to the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip from the 80s and 90s, where Calvin's dad doesn't know the answer so he makes something up to placate Calvin. i.e. someone made it up to answer questions to which they had no idea why. Such as why does it rain, or the ground shake, or the mountain erupt? The flat earth notion and the flood, which could only happen with a flat earth, were meant to keep people subservient and placated. the notion of sin does the same, keeps you in line when nobody is around, because uneducated and low intellect people won't do the 'right' thing without someone watching them. Now since we have technology and can better understand the world around us, religious people use the sharpshooter fallacy to claim that some bible or koran passage proves an idea, when the reality of it is nothing of the sort happened like that. Sorta like Nostradamus, stay vague and very general so it can be applied to myriad events. Now there is some really good stuff in the bible, my favorite verses are psalms. Two of them say essentially the same thing. 25:24 and 21:9. I can attest to the veracity of those two psalms, but that does not validate the entire bible nor the assertions held within. Just like Karl can be right about things that happen with capitalism, but his solutions and predictions are not only incorrect, but errant by orders of magnitude that make the ludicrous nature of superstitions in the bible are nearly plausible. The bible is almost entirely argument from authority and argument from ignorance, and propped up with no true scotsman, moving the goal posts, sharpshooters, and ad hoc ergo propter hoc. Since Karl's cult is based on the same religion (he was jewish after all) his followers are maligned with the same shortcomings and thus they employ the same fallacies to support their errant notions and assertions. Harry Potter has London and England in it, but that doesn't make the story any less fictional.

  2.  @TheImperatorKnight  I started learning about the soviet system in the 80s when I enlisted in the USAF. I wanted to know why we were willing to fight against the eastern bloc. Especially since I was stationed in Frankfurt at the air base that was the primary target. I was there when the wall came down, so its not like I read history in a book.. I was there for it and watched it happen in many instances. That was a surreal time in 1989 considering how I grew up. My second ex tried to get me into Karl's cult, same as the atheist reddits tried to, but I was not going to trade delusional religions for another. I was kicked out because I did not agree that if you're atheist you're automatically a pro female ist or the social type of ist. I am not allowed to use those words on here, because I always disparage them. I grew up on a farm where my family took the money I earned working for neighbors and selling produce I planted, cultivated, and picked. I worked for no benefit to myself, it went to my siblings and parents, and even now in my 50s my family still assumes that whatever I own is something they can do with as they please. Its interesting that I was the only kid of six of us that happened to. So I am not big on collectives where someone else decides who gets what and its not based on merit or productivity. There is a reason I live 1000 miles away from them. How to realize and question things sooner? It takes a while, and most never get beyond the indoctrination they have forced on them as kids. Those of us who always question things come to it sooner, but they can still not realize it. I build vintage muscle cars, usually they are as old as I am or older. I want to know how, why, and when it works, and how to improve on it if possible. I do not take 'because I said so' as an answer, I want to understand things completely. Thus I am always questioning things, even things I know already. It gets expensive fast when you're building an engine and you're mistaken because you 'know' when you only think you know. Dunning Krueger is a real thing. Experience and education are the way out of ideological indoctrination, but now that education is not coming from schools nor the public/media. Its all indoctrination. The required education to eschew the abhorrent notions of the left comes from people such as you, making videos like this one.
