I ran into that in the USAF, having someone who outranked me, telling me to do it their way which was dangerous and against the regulations because of its danger, so I would say Yep, ok, will do. Then I would do it the right way and document who it was that said to do this highly dangerous thing. Placate them where they have authority, and do it the right way when its not up to them.
I learned to go along with what they say and do it the right way in my first two years in the USAF, because of what happened with teachers in school, and what one particular bastige did to me when I made his incompetence shine through.
I argued with my 4th to 6th grade teacher in a parochial school when he said the earth flops around on its axis to cause the seasons, among other things. As a result he made it look like I was 'special needs' and did everything he could to stymie me.
You don't have to believe the falsehoods and baseless assertions, just think of it like you're doing a book report on a fictional character, like Holden Caufield...
