Comic Geek time: In 1985 Marvel Comics, on an alternate Earth, the Squadron Supreme decided to take control of America and the planet as its guardians. They were superpowered and had noble goals. No more conflict or poverty. Hoever, Nighthawk...their world's Batman, decided that only works as long as they stay benevolent and have only benevolent replacements, which likely they will not. So, he banded together with some of the supervillains, made them respect his leadership, and took down the Squadron, in particular their Superman, Hyperion. He died doing it. At first he was labeled a terrorist, a traitor, but even Hyperion came to see his point of view. We can't rule over humanity with our great power. We should merely assist and lead by example. No one should be megawealthy. That is the godlike superpower of our alternate Earth.
