  3. They still never nailed The Joker like Alan Moore did in the comics. In 2 movies, they made him a bad guy who then became an insane guy. The last one a mistreated loser becoming anti-hero. But, in The Killing Joke, he was a gifted loser...not happy but still had something to live for...a plain wife, pregnant with kid. He is convinced by gangsters to rob his former employer which will help his failing life, but right before burglary...his pregnant wife dies in absurd manner...now, no reason to commit crime. But, being gangsters, they make him. He goes through with it, Batman, intervenes. He emerges from chemicals a deformed freak and his mind snaps, In that comic he wanted to convince Batman that anyone can be turned crazy and evil, the devil wanted some sympathy. Of course, he paralyzed, sexually assaulted batgirl, kidnapped and degraded commissioner Gordon in a carnival nightmare to prove it. Batman was prepared to kill the Joker once and for all. No more. But, a naked, traumatized Gordon said No, We have to show him our way is better. Don't kill him. We aren't weak like him. We can't be changed into monsters. Later. Bats beats the shit out of the Joker, and they end up laughing at one of the Jokers long jokes. Amazing comic. It truly informed my own adult experiences, where I've often been driven crazy by circumstances or other people..,a thirst for revenge, a sense everything is a joke, nothing matters..but goodness does matter. It isn't lazy, it isn't weak. It is a necessary lamp in the darkness. Don't let it go out.
